The cast iron wok's most unique aspect is its shape. Classic woks have a rounded bottom which enables the chahn to pick up all the food at the bottom of the wok and toss. Woks with flat bottoms are used more often on electric stoves. They range in size from 30 cm to 2 meters or more in diameter. The most common size wok is 36 cm or 14 inches. Small cast iron woks are used for stir frys, while large cast iron woks are used commercially to cook rice, soup or to boil water.

Another important component of cast iron woks is the handles. Loop handles are made of bare metal are usually riveted or welded from the wok basin. To toss food in a wok, the cook needs to hold the loop handle with a thick towel. Cast iron woks are a must-have for all cooks!
